The first days of welcoming a new baby to the family are always incredibly memorable and emotional. You’ve gone through so much preparation and anticipation and now the most precious gift in your life has finally arrived! I love hearing families’ stories when they come to see me for their newborn photo session, but this family’s story was particularly special and meaningful.

These sweet dads have dreamed of becoming parents for more than ten long years. When they met an incredible woman who agreed to be their surrogate, they couldn’t believe that their dreams were finally about to come true. And now that baby Mishki has arrived, she is everything they had imagined and more! We put this newborn photo session together at the 11^th hour, but it was worth it to celebrate this long-awaited moment.

Because the family’s surrogate was such an instrumental part of their lives, they wanted to include her in the photo session too, and I’m touched to see that baby Mishki will grow up with a connection to all the people that helped her come into the world. We even created a portrait of the entire family, including Mishki’s surrogate and her children who will be a wonderful part of Mishki’s life.

Mishki is lucky enough to come into a family full of love from around the world, particularly in South America and Puerto Rico. These family members graced her with some gorgeous gifts that I was thrilled to incorporate into the portraits for this newborn and her two dads’ photoshoot. The hand-knitted blanket and the lovely pastel rainbow outfit in Mishki’s photos will certainly become heirlooms she treasures forever.
